John Howes: I’ve just been getting round to looking at my dad’s war time notes a bit more closely and notice that his class (4D) of Addey and Stanhope School was first evacuated to Dallington. He’s written on the back of an old postcard of Yew Arch (complete with period vehicle out front) “I was billeted here (with Reg Norris) in 1939/40 – Mrs Tutton, Mrs Bridges, maid Lena”. I see that the Tuttons are mentioned in ‘Dallington A Village At War’. Happy to send a scan of the postcard if wanted.
