Listing: “A Post medieval farmstead which was originally much larger than in modern times. It is shown as two buildings on the OS Draft map [1] and then the 1st edition OS shows expansion to the south [2]. The probable only original building on the site currently is the Claytons Barn.
Claytons Farm, Dallington. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. The farmstead is formed of a loose courtyard with one side of the yard formed of agricultural buildings and additional detached elements to the main plan. The farmhouse is set away from the yard. The farmstead is in an isolated location. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. “
Listing for Claytons Farm Barn: “Small mid-late 16th century three bay barn with central wagon way incorporating full height entry to the south and three quarter height entry to the north, flanked by equal size open storage bays. Wall originally infilled with daub, whilst the thatched roof was of side purlin, queen stud and windbraced construction, with hipped western terminal and gabled east terminal. Extended to east and south in late 17th century. The building is now weatherboarded, with modern lean-tos at both ends and a corrugated iron roof.”

From Maggie: “Hi, I have found your site while researching my 4th Great Grandparents, Joseph and Sarah Bellingham. From the 1841 Census when they were both 70 years old, they were living at Clayton Farm. I have found it on the old maps and can see a house with a swimming pool on Google Maps where I believe the farm was. Does anyone have any old photos of the farm that I can see? TIA”
