1681 Possible owners Thomas Parker, Richard Glydd, Will Hosmer (this one could be an agent).
1682 A Joseph Weller of Warbleton purchased the Henshott in Dallington & Warbleton from a Samuel Boys of The Castle. Then he mortgaged the property for £400. During Josephs ownership he purchased The Crepe [believed to be Cripps Farm]from James Viger & JohnSmith. Then making a total of 101 acres.
1702 The farm was sold to James Relf jnr of Battle married Benadicta Spiller. At that time James paid off the mortgage of Josephs. By that time the mortgage had been sold on, and now was in the hands of Sir Thomas Pelham of Catsfield. (he also held the title of the Duke of Newcastle). Another post Sir Thomas held was Prime minister.
1725. Gyles Watt of Battle, held the property in right of his wife Jane. The only Daughter and heir of James Relf. A settlement of the property was made to Gyles Watts absolute. OWNERSHIP of NEWCASTLE FARM stayed in the WATTS family for next 162yrs
