1932 Thomas and Mabel Marchant
Information & newspaper cutting from Sussex Express 1932 and kindly provided by present owner, Lisa Simmonds. “…our house, Woods Place was once named Rosaland Cottage. Thomas Marchant lived here until his death in the late 1980s. He lived here with his wife, Mabel Pankhurst from 1932. What’s more curious for me, is not only am I related to George Sands who built the house (and Forest View), Mabel is actually my first cousin X3 removed! They had their wedding reception at Forest View next door (where Thomas’s parents lived)”
The detailed description of the bride’s dress and list of presents provides interesting social history:

In the 1939 Register, the house is listed as Rosaland Cottage, and residents are still Thomas Marchant, age 39 Occupation Poultry Collector (Motor) & Mabel G Marchant age 34 Unpaid Domestic Duties.
And the Marchants still live next door at Forest View
